Dhyanyoga Center of North Carolina Kundalini Maha Yoga and Shaktipat

Dhyanyoga Centers is a non-profit organization that serves as a vehicle for the work master spiritual teachers Shri Anandi Ma and Dileepji perform on behalf of their Guru, Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji in North America.

The Dhyanyoga Center of North Carolina is one of its chapters, located in Weaverville, North Carolina, and its purpose is to help spread the knowledge of Kundalini Maha Yoga and to honor the presence of a living saint, Shri Anandi Ma, in North America.

Shaktipat Initiation

The path of Kundalini Maha Yoga offers great gifts, such as practices for spiritual evolution, mantras for healing and protection, ceremonies for world peace, and so on. But the greatest gifts of all are the presence of a living, liberated Guru and the initiation of Shaktipat that establishes a subtle connection through which the Guru (spiritual teacher) is constantly guiding and assisting the disciples on different levels, bringing them closer and closer to the final goal of Liberation, while filling their life with faith, peace and discrimination. Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji was an enlightened master of the Kundalini Maha Yoga tradition and now Shri Anandi Ma, his spiritual heir, continues His work of awakening the Kundalini Shakti of sincere seekers.

"The principle on which Kundalini Maha Yoga is based is very simple. In every human being there is a source of divine energy. The Sanskrit word for this source of energy is Kundalini. This source of energy or Kundalini is in two states: the dormant state and the active, awakened or aroused state. When this source is dormant, a person leads an unhappy, unfulfilled life. One's understanding of the universe is restricted and everything is perceived and interpreted according to a limited capacity. On the other hand, when the source is active or aroused, progress is rapid on the path of spiritual evolution. One realizes the full potential of body and mind, attains inner peace, harmony and integration, and ultimately experiences the sublime truth of unity in diversity —the fact that all life is one and is bound by that divine power called love. The purpose of Kundalini Maha Yoga is to awaken this source of energy if it is dormant, or to intensify its activity if it is already awaken. Thus Kundalini Maha Yoga is a direct method for spiritual evolution and as such its importance is obvious."

— Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji

"Kundalini can be awaken by attaining perfection of certain hatha yoga postures, called asanas, by certain breathing exercises aimed at controlling the breath, called pranayama, by God's grace, by meditation or by intense devotion. Another technique of great importance is Shaktipat, the transmission of energy. A powerful yogi can transmit energy to an aspirant and awaken the Kundalini."

— Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji

Meditation and Pranayama

"Of all the forms of meditation, meditation through attention on the breath is probably the easiest and most direct way to Self-realization. By performing breathing exercises called pranayama in conjunction with meditation, the aspirant can coordinate and integrate various functions and energies of the nervous system. Once this is accomplished, the student easily gains control over the life force or prana. This in turn leads to control over the mind. When the student gains complete control of the mind, there is an experience of unique peace and joy."

Benefits of Meditation

  • The ultimate benefit of meditation is the realization of God, but there are many other advantages in every stage of spiritual development. Because the awakening of the Kundalini has the effect of purifying the body in general and the nervous system in particular, diseases of the body and mind are greatly improved.

About

  • The tradition of worship and adoration by a group is an ancient one in India, as well as in other parts of the world and in many religious traditions. Congregation is the rule rather than the exception. In group meditation, the individuality of the meditator subserves the emergence of a group "personality."

Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji

  • Shri Dhyanyogi was an exceptional master of yogic science. Born in Bihar, India, Shri Dhyanyogi was a very meditative child. His spiritual quest began at the age of seven when he ran away from home in search of God. Although he was quickly found by his parents, he left again for good at age 13.
