The Infinite is in the form of pure love.
Meditate to reach it and you will find infinite love, peace and happiness.
-- Shri Anandi Ma

Benefits of Meditation
The ultimate benefit of meditation is the
realization of God, but there are many other advantages in every stage
of spiritual development. Because the awakening of the Kundalini has
the effect of purifying the body in general and the nervous system
in particular, diseases of the body and mind are greatly
improved. Energy levels and mental powers are increased as well, the
creativity and intuition are enhanced, and inner joy becomes a stable
experience.
The seeker becomes a stronger individual, a more
complete person, able to function in adverse circumstances with
great poise and able to love more freely and more fully, until the
true nature of love is understood in the final experience of Liberation
or knowledge of the Self.
About Group Meditation
The tradition of worship and adoration by a group is an ancient one in India, as well as in other parts of the world and in many religious traditions. Congregation is the rule rather than the exception. In group meditation, the individuality of the meditator subserves the emergence of a group "personality." Yet all meditators participate in it, benefiting from the charged atmosphere that is engendered by the energy of the group in a state of single minded concentration. The same is true of group chanting or praying.
"In group meditation everyone's mind is turned inwards and becomes more and more single-pointed. The capability of the mind to bring its faculties or powers to bear upon an object or an issue increases with concentration. An extra powerful current of prana flows outwards from the sadhaks [seekers, meditators] in all directions, and they charge the atmosphere around them. This, mingled with the effects created by chanting of the mantra by the accomplished spiritual Guru, creates a charge very much like an electrical impulse, it spreads through the room with the speed of the wind and becomes like an activated cell in a battery. For a single individual to create an atmosphere of some intensity by his own power would call for prolonged discipline and intense effort. When sadhaks sit together in a group, the radiation of power from the group's single pointed concentration gathers and accumulates; and this store of power helps weaker sadhaks who are lacking in pointedness of attention."

Some Guidelines for Meditation:
-
Develop the feeling and attitude that the whole world is one family. Promote goodwill and respect all communities and religions.
-
Cultivate a feeling of love and forgiveness to shower equally on all living beings.
-
Speak the truth in a pleasing way. Live each day in the consciousness of love and kindness. Do good deeds whenever possible and contribute to the charity or spiritual teachings of your choice.
-
Attempt to live a pure, pious, satvic life. The body is a temple of God. Strive to eat pure, nutritious food and avoid intoxicants. A vegetarian diet will accelerate spiritual development.
-
As purity begins with the physical body, cleanse the body before meditation.
-
Observe silence while meditating and reciting mantras.
-
The seat for meditation or asana should be made of a woolen cloth on the floor and a cotton cloth on the top. Avoid sitting on the bare ground, since the energy can be drained off, and do not share your asana with anyone.
-
During group meditation, please give yourself enough space so as to avoid disturbing the others if you need to move. Do not step on other people's asanas. Observe silence.
-
During group meditation do not do japa (mantra repetition) or other practices. Just meditate!
